Attorney General Corbett & PA State Police Break-Up Motorcycle Theft Ring in Southwestern PA

A motorcycle theft ring responsible for the thefts of bikes totaling $80,000 in value has been broken up by agents of the Attorney General’s Office and the PA State Police.  The alleged perpetrators stole, stripped and sold the motorcycles and ATVs stolen from Allegheny, Washington and Westmoreland counties.  Allegedly they also staged vehicle thefts, planning to file false insurance claims totaling $12,700.  One of the thieves worked at a cycle shop and used his position to obtain the names and addresses of who would later become the group’s victims.  The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
